Are you a hairstylist, makeup artist, or cosmetology student looking to work on film and television productions?  Learn the skills needed to work on set from industry professionals in our Online Hair & Makeup for Film & Television intensive!

This 5 session online workshop will prepare those who have cosmetology training or professional experience working in film and television hair and makeup departments.

SESSION ONE:

Saturday, March 6 – 10AM – 12:30PM

SESSION TWO:

Sunday, March 7 – 10AM – 2PM

SESSION THREE:

Saturday, March 13 – 10AM – 1:45PM

SESSION FOUR:

Saturday, March 20 – 10AM – 1:30PM

SESSION FIVE:

Sunday, March 28 – 4PM-5:30PM

This workshop will provide trainees with:

  • Hands-on training experience in film/TV hair or makeup techniques and concepts

  • Basic Set 101 instruction so that graduates feel prepared to work on an actual set

  • Techniques for collaborating and working with actors, directors, and other departments

  • An understanding of departmental roles and operations

  • Knowledge of what Makeup Kits/supplies entail

  • Experience and feedback in character creation and specialized skills

Upon successful completion of this intensive workshop, participants will be referable for assistant positions on upcoming film and television productions.

Pre-requisites: Professional experience or previous training in hair and makeup, or transferable experience in these areas. No film/tv production experience is necessary.

Stockade Works is particularly seeking diverse members of the community and women who are typically precluded from jobs in the film production sector. In order to attend workshops participants must be 18 years of age or older.


INSTRUCTORS:

 

Alexandra Brock - A native of Houston, TX, Alexandra started out on the stage before moving behind the scenes. A graduate of the Musical Theatre program at the University of Michigan, she spent her first years in New York City living the life of a performer before attending the Multimedia Program at The Makeup Designory in 2010. She began freelancing full time upon graduation and got her start in the industry in the non-union reality TV and Indy Film scene. A member of Local798, she has spent the last two and a half years as key makeup artist for Blindspot on NBC. Her favorite makeup product is lipstick and her favorite shade is hot pink.

 
 

Jennifer Donovan - Kingston Native and lover of all things local, Jennifer Donovan was a graduate of SUNY New Paltz studying Public Relations and Business. All the while, she was working as a hair stylist and salon coordinator for the infamously known hair stylist to the rock and roll world, Mark Ferraro. While working with Mark Ferraro, Jennifer was able to work first hand with the great creatives that migrated to Woodstock and the Catskill region. After college, Jennifer continued to work on large scale productions as a designer and the Head of the Hair and Makeup Department at the Fisher Center at Bard College. She was also a hair and makeup artist for on and off Broadway productions and continues works with American Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House. With several years of theatre, film, daily styling experiences, and endless connections in the industry, Jennifer continues to train and hire staffing to provide expertise skill sets to local productions, businesses, and stylists. Jennifer is the owner of Le Shag salon and training Academy in Kingston, NY.
